Website design

The site is usually the first full-length version of the brand.

We design sites that look like the brand rather than like the framework they were built in. Type, colour, imagery and motion are taken from the identity and re-decided for a screen, where scale behaves differently and the reader is holding the page.

Most sites are designed at the homepage and defaulted everywhere else. The pages that carry the business are the ones nobody art-directs: category, detail, form, confirmation.

Designed at every width

A layout is designed at the width people actually use, which for most brands means a phone first and a desktop second. Breakpoints are decisions rather than a consequence of the grid.

Density changes with the surface. What reads as generous on a laptop reads as empty on a phone, so spacing, type scale and image crops are set per breakpoint instead of scaled.

Built to be extended

Pages are designed as components with their states, so a new template is assembled from decisions already made rather than drawn from scratch and drifting.

Everything hands over to development with the spacing, states and behaviour specified, because the difference between a good design and a good site is what survives the build.
