Mobile-first & responsive
Designed for the phone, because that is where the traffic is.
We design mobile-first as a method rather than a checkbox: the small screen is where the layout is decided, and the desktop view is what the design becomes when it has room.
Designing wide and shrinking later produces pages that technically fit a phone and were clearly never meant for one.
Decisions made at the narrow width
Hierarchy, order and priority are set on the phone, where there is no space to avoid choosing. What survives that constraint is what mattered.
Touch targets, thumb reach, form fields and keyboard behaviour are designed rather than inherited, because those are the details that decide whether a form gets completed.
Tested on the devices people own
We test on real hardware and mid-range connections, not only on a fast laptop with the network throttled.
Performance is part of responsiveness: an interface that responds instantly on a three-year-old phone is the actual standard.
Ready to design for the screen people are holding?
Let's talk.
